The inside of the bar had smelled of heat, sweat, and alcohol; a combination that didn't often bother the blonde bartender. But mix that with the scent of blood from a bar fight that had happened mere moments ago and you had a dizzying and overwhelming feeling. It was as if her nose had decided to pick up on that scent and that scent alone, discarding the other more powerful scents that were a norm in the establishment. Alison had never fully cut herself off from blood, but she refrained from drinking any for as long as she possibly could. Despite the fact that she hated people, Alison wasn't particularly keen on attacking or killing people just to get what she wanted. Besides, its not like she actually needed it.
No matter what she did or how she distracted she got or how far from the spot of the fight the smell of the blood found its way into her nose anyway. Finishing pouring a shot for a patron, the blonde walked past the other bartender, telling him that she would be back soon, and went to the back, grabbing her sweatshirt and a bottle of beer before leaving out the back. The alley behind the bar smelled worse than the bar itself and the dirt and grime that covered every surface was enough to make her skin crawl. Leaving the alley as fast as she could, Alison made her way onto the sidewalk and ran across the street, not bothering to look for cars. At one in the morning there were no cars on the road. The opening to the park was further down the sidewalk, but with her beer in one hand, Alison used her free hand to launch herself over the chain link fence; heels and all.
It wasn't surprising to find the park empty since she couldn't imagine a parent bringing their child to play in the middle of the night. Unlike the smell in the bar and the alley, the air here was fresh and crisp, a relaxing smell if there ever was one, and her head began to clear almost immediately. It was early spring and so the night air, while not cold, was cool, especially when one compared it to the heat of the bar, and she planted herself on a park bench. Between two fingers Alison held the neck of the beer bottle, her forearms resting against her thighs as she leaned forward, letting the bottle dangle between her legs. Alison was in that position for only a minute or so, her blue eyes watching as a light breeze blew its way through the blooming trees, before she sat up again and popped the top off her beer.
Throwing the cap towards the garbage can, it made a "cling" noise as it hit the side, a noise that seemed much louder in the quiet of the park than it should have, before the cap fell to the ground. She missed...which wasn't surprising since Alison had horrible aim. Taking a sip of her beer she laid herself back on the bench, one leg propped up and the other crossed over so it was resting on her knee. Her left arm snaked under her head, a makeshift cushion against the hard wood underneath, and her right arm hung down, the beer still in her grasp. She looked up at the stars, her eyes tracing constellations that she didn't know the name of.
With no idea of how long she had been there Alison suddenly became aware of another presence. It was to footsteps that had alerted her first and she sat up, looking around slowly as her eyes tried to focus and determine shadows from objects. Finally they settled on the lone figure that was walking towards the park and she frowned slightly, wondering who else could possibly want to enjoy the park at one in the morning.
